Antwerp Art Weekend Special Project: The Constant Cinema
16-19 May 2024
Featuring work by Ndayé Kouagou, Rosine Mbakam, Kevin Osepa, and Brahim Tall.
Curated by The Constant Now for Antwerp Art Weekend.
For four days, The Constant Now will showcase four engaging artists at M HKA as part of Antwerp Art Weekend. A new film will screen continuously each day, accompanied by a talk with the filmmakers to gain insights into their practice. Ndayé Kouagou, Rosine Mbakam, Kevin Osepa, and Brahim Tall all push the boundaries of film, representing people of color (POC) and placing them at the center of their works. By reclaiming visual and narrative sovereignty, they offer new perspectives that profoundly differentiate the artistic landscape. Through live conversations, we delve into their work, creating a space to support communal reflection and engagement, further developing a platform for artists and audiences to connect.
The Constant Cinema is commissioned by Antwerp Art Weekend and curated by Magali Elali. Find The Constant Cinema in M HKA’s INBOX, on the museum’s 5th floor. The presentation is accessible for free. Each day there’s a talk with the makers from 14:00 to 15:00. The video works are screened continuously from 11:00 to 18:00.
