Archive Dive: A Glimpse into the Artist’s World
26 Apr 2025, 11:15 - 17:45

Want to learn more about the archives managed by M HKA? Or as an artist, do you have questions about creating your own archive?
At the end of April, we are opening our doors for a few days for an archive dive with our in-house expert(s).
On Saturday, April 26, we invite you behind the scenes of our archive depot. As part of the exhibition “Hugo Roelandt – The End is a New Beginning”, you will have a unique opportunity to closely examine the archives of several artists.
Guided by archivist Bart Cornel, you will gain insight into how the archive operates. Especially for this occasion, we will bring out various pieces from the collection: letters, photographs, drawing materials, and possibly some unexpected objects.
What do these archival pieces reveal about the lives and work of artists?
How do archival materials provide context for an exhibition?
After this exclusive look into the depot, you will join a short guided tour of the Hugo Roelandt exhibition, using the archive as a guiding thread. This will be a moment to explore stories, make connections, and approach art from a different perspective.
