Archive Dive for Artists
24 Apr 2025, 14:00 - 18:30

Would you like to learn more about the archives managed by M HKA? Or are you an artist with questions about creating your own archive?
At the end of April, we are opening our doors for a few days for an archive deep dive with our in-house expert(s).
How can you ensure that your work, correspondence and documentation remain a valuable resourse for the future?
In this artist-focused session, you will discover what archiving can mean for your artistic practice.
From letters and photos to sketches and everyday objects—anything can play a role in an archive. Archivist Bart Cornel will explain how archives can portray artists, contribute to art history, and even become part of the artistic process.
Using examples such as the archives featured in the exhibition ‘Hugo Roelandt – The End is a New Beginning’, we will explore the interaction between art and archiving.
You will receive practical tips on how to get started:
Where do you begin?
What should you keep?
How do you structure an archive?
The session includes space for individual questions, followed by the opportunity to visit the exhibition.
