Opening of ‘The Lives of Animals’: Free access, activities, treat and performance
8 Jun 2024, 11:00 - 18:00
Op zaterdag 8 juni trapt het M HKA zijn zomerprogramma af met Dierenleven, een groepstentoonstelling die je uitdaagt je relatie met dieren op een andere manier te bekijken.
In this exhibition literature, philosopohy and art are combined to question conventional ideas about animals. – Joanna Zielińska, curator
We all know many stories about animals; they are part of our collective imagination. Since our childhood, we have spent time observing animals in various situations. Animals are probably among the most popular and, at the same time, the most complex subjects to have accompanied us since our species emerged.
‘The Lives of Animals’ is inspired by J.M. Coetzee’s novel of the same name and features work by more than 30 artists, including Pierre Bismuth, melanie bonajo, Elen Braga, Sue Cue, Piero Gilardi, Rebecca Horn, Ad Minoliti, Panamarenko, Lin May Saeed and Nicolás García Uriburu.
