Workshop by Tenant of Culture

1 Apr 2023

In the frame of the exhibition IN SITU: Tenant of Culture, the artist is organising two workshops on Saturday, April 1.

During the workshops, we will be working with used and discarded garments, textiles and accessories such as shoes, scarves, caps and hats. As a group, we look at the processes behind production and consumption in fashion and engage in the process of ‘upcycling’. Upcycling is the practice of making small modifications to an existing garment using both improvised as well as existing techniques. Participants will for example learn how to make clothes without using a sewing machine, how to turn an old shoe into a handbag or how old rubber boots can be turned into a hat.

This approach is low-threshold, participants do not need to be experienced in making clothes, the focus is on the creative process rather than the end result.

Participation is free with a valid museum ticket. Registration is mandatory.
