Art & the Social Environment
In the guided tour Art & Environment, we start from the world of the pupils, yet the art works are central. Themes that can run like a golden thread through the guided tour are nature, technology, people, society, time and space.
A work of art is often an expression of the thoughts and feelings an artist has in relation to the world in which he or she lives. By looking at art, children learn to better understand their own environment as well as that of others. Not only the subjects the artists choose, but also the materials and techniques with which art works are made, and the shapes they end up in, stand in direct relation to the world in which they are created. Some artists criticise our society in the form of an artwork.
Pupils learn that there are many different ways to look at the world. Even if you do not completely agree with each other, you can still learn something from that.
